The J1 assists all Indiana National Guard members with personnel issues of various types, including processing of forms, oversight on career promotions, etc.
The Education and Incentives Office provides information, administration, counseling and support regarding all education services and incentives offered to Service Members in the Indiana Army National Guard. The branch is responsible for several different services and programs such as education counseling and test administration, enlisted and officer bonus payments, administration of the Student Loan Repayment Program, approval and processing of tuition assistance funds, and GI Bill verification and coordination. The Personnel Actions Branch (PAB) is responsible for the administration and approval of assignments, transfers, promotions, and separations of all Officers, Warrant Officers, and Enlisted Personnel in the Indiana Army National Guard. The PAB prepares and conducts various promotion boards in coordination with the Major Commands, to include the Enlisted Promotion System (EPS) and the Officer Career Management Board (OCMB). Additionally, the PAB manages various retention boards to include the Enlisted Career Management Board (ECMB), the Officer Selective Retention Board (SRB), and Discharge Review Boards. Security Branch initiates and reviews all soldiers for security clearances. (Secret & Top Secret). Also initiates state and contract employees.
