Military Support Requests Hosting a civic event? If your event meets certain criteria, the Indiana National Guard can provide military support to your event. Military support for civic events includes assets such as: - color guards
- military equipment static displays
- 38th Division Band
- guest speakers
- flyovers
- and recruiting assets.
Army Directive 2010-08 (Army Aircraft use for Public Affairs Missions) The Army will no longer support requests for Army aviation public affairs missions involving aerial demonstrations in the civilian domain until this directive is modified or rescinded. For requests involving anything other than helicopters, please submit your request with a completed DD2536. We must receive all requests of this nature at least 30 days in advance of the scheduled event. Submit DD Form requests to: FAX: 317-247-3146 Attn: Community Relations or Address: Indiana Joint Forces Headquarters Public Affairs Office Attn: Community Relations 2002 South Holt Road Indianapolis, IN 46241-4839 Once your request is received: - we determine whether or not the event is supportable by the standards set in applicable community support regulations,
- then forward the request to a local unit with assets that match what you have requested.
- That unit determines whether or not it can support the request without affecting its operational obligations
- then notifies the Community Relations Manager,
- who will inform you in writing of the unit's decision, and whether your request has been approved or denied.
For more information or to submit a request, contact Sgt. 1st Class Tien Do, Community Relations Manager at 317-247-3546 or email. For Air Force Aerial Support please visit www.airshows.pa.hq.af.mil to submit a request. Note: There are many events that we are legally unable to support. For instance, the only fundraisers we are able to support are: - Combined Federal Campaign
- National Guard Relief Fund
- Army Relief Fund
- Air Force Relief Fund
- and the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society.
This is not intended to question the importance of other fundraisers, but merely concedes that most causes are already supported in an official government capacity via these programs, and that we cannot legally support other fundraisers due to community relations regulations governing the subject nationally.
